Today I get to share all the details about my newest Grace Tankini. You can get the Grace Tankini pattern here.
The reason this Grace Tankini came into being is the amazing new swim fabrics from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. You can see all of them here if you’re in a hurry, or check them out at the end of the post too. They are amazing, beautiful, great quality fabrics at an extremely reasonable price.
For the main fabric, I used the bubble dot matte swim knit fabric. As a designer of swimwear, let me assure you that I have a lot of experience with swim fabrics. Good and bad. And the stuff Raspberry Creek Fabrics is producing is some of the best I’ve ever worked with. If you’ve been afraid to try sewing swimwear, this fabric will calm your nerves. And of course, use a pattern with instructions for beginners (like the Grace Tankini) and you can and will do it!
The accent panels on the side of the tankini top, the pockets of the swim skirt, and the hidden panty underneath all use the light lime green and white stripe fabric. Of course they coordinate perfectly, they are designed and printed by the best!
For this Grace Tankini, I made the View B top and plain sport skirt. I also made it high waisted, not by using the pattern pieces (I forgot!) but by doubling the width of the waistband. It works too!
Now I promised I’d show you a couple more of my favorite swim fabrics from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.
Okay fine, so I have a thing for palms and swim wear! This is the View A Grace Tankini top and circle skirt with teal, navy and white palm leaves swim fabric.
