The Parachute Polo is one of our favorite patterns to sew for boys. Oliver+S created this great little pattern. It comes with a polo shirt pattern and a sweat pants pattern. We’ve made both of them several times!
The very first time we sewed the Parachute Polo shirt, we used some special animal fabric from Birch Organics and created matching shirts for the two youngest boys. Well, as boys do, they grew. So much so that the bigger shirt now fits the younger boy and the smaller shirt doesn’t fit either one.
The older brother was feeling a little left out when his little brother wears his “elephant shirt” even though he has an airplane shirt and a striped shirt to match Mommy made from this pattern. So obviously another animal shirt was in order! This time we made David a size 4, the largest size in the smaller size range. It’s time to buy the next size range because we’re not going to stop sewing these any time soon!
We got some more fabulous organic knit fabric designed by Birch Organics and purchased at Peekaboo Pattern Shop called Bear Hike Blue. (affiliate link) It is just as amazingly soft as you can ever imagine. Add a little white pop for the collar and buttons, and now the brothers can be matching again! In these photos David is wearing the Parachute Polo with his Classic Chinos we sewed for him.
If you read any of our other reviews of the Parachute Polo pattern, you’ll know that aside from the 1st time we sewed it and couldn’t keep our lefts and rights straight, this pattern produces a perfect polo shirt time after time after time!
David is such a kick when it comes to taking photos. He loves to think up new poses and then laugh and laugh and laugh! We always end up with way more unusable photos than blog worthy ones, partially due to the photographer jiggling the camera as they laugh…
We’re linking this sweet little shirt up to the Make Laundry Don’t Do Laundry blog tour. You should check it out, it’s really as fun as it sounds! And besides, what’s more fun than sewing a new garment?
