The next skirt in our series All The Skirts: Violette Field Threads & Raspberry Creek Fabrics is the Women’s Quinn Skirt.
When we first looked at the Violette Field Threads skirts, I had it in the back of my mind to choose one to lengthen to a maxi skirt. At six feet tall, I’m just sort of a maxi skirt fanatic. Other tall ladies would understand what it’s like to never be able to buy a skirt long enough, but to have the power in your hands to create one any length you like. Of the four women’s patterns in the Violette Field Threads line up, the Quinn Skirt pattern seemed like the ideal one to take to the max!
The women’s Quinn Skirt can be made in 7 sizes from XXS to XXL. There are 3 given length options, short, regular or tall, but of course you can do what we did and go long!
The wide elastic waistband is heavenly to wear; as a mama of 7 children, I can assure you it offers all the support you’ll need. Also, if you need a skirt to wear all day long, pick the Quinn Skirt Pattern. And then there’s that exposed zipper in the back. Because of the Quinn Skirt pattern, I now love exposed zippers that I bought a whole assortment.
Like the girl’s Quinn Skirt Pattern, you can also make the Quinn Skirt entirely out of decorative elastic if you prefer. And there is a top pattern included, but since it’s sleeveless and we’re in the dead of winter, I opted not to make it at this time. You can see the Quinn Skirt and Top we made for Annie here.
I love the deep pleats of the Quinn Skirt pattern. They allow the silhouette of the skirt to be fitted at the waist and gently curve out around the hips.
The fabric used on this skirt was an impulse buy from JoAnn Fabrics. It’s a sateen, and just heavenly for this use. Definitely a date night skirt.
We hope you’ve been sewing up some Violette Field Threads patterns too! Or maybe you’ve found some luscious fabric at Raspberry Creek Fabrics? Well, now you can enter to win, too. Oh, and a word about my poses…my 7 year old, Annie stood off to the side telling me exactly how to post, and what to do! Very funny to me, and hopefully better than my own painful attempts at posing!!
Simply link up anything you’ve made this year with a Violette Field Threads pattern or fabric from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. And be sure to enter the Rafflecopter giveaway too. Two winners will each receive 5 PDF pattern from Violette Field Threads and $50 to spend at Raspberry Creek Fabrics.
