Today we have what may be our favorite skirt so far in All The Skirts: Violet Field Threads & Raspberry Creek Fabrics.  You see, we have this thing for pleated skirts.  They’re so smart, classy and timeless.  Combine those things with this stunning chambray fabric from Raspberry Creek Fabrics, and we’re totally swooning over this skirt.

Let’s begin with the Whitney Skirt pattern.  There are several things that set the Whitney Skirt apart from other skirt patterns.  First of all, the Whitney pattern includes both a skirt and pants pattern.  We always value patterns that you can make over and over in several variations, and the Whitney skirt offers this option.  This pattern can be made in 7 sizes from 2T to 9/10.

Probably the best thing about the Whitney pattern are the no fail pleat instructions.  Perfect pleats, every time!  And the pleats are box pleats which are so amazingly adorable, probably our favorite kind.

Another awesome thing about the Whitney pattern is no pattern piece for the skirt part, only the waistband, saving paper and time.  Violette Field Threads for another winning pattern.

The wide waistband has elastic across the back, ensuring a perfect fit for your little girl.

Now about that fabric, because we know you’ve been wondering.  This fabric is Kaufman Chambray Union Dots Indigo Fabric. affiliate link We got ours from Raspberry Creek Fabrics, but it’s no longer available.  You can either get it here, or try this other gorgeous chambray from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.

This fabric is very lightweight and flowy, but holds those pleats very sharply.  Seriously about the perfect fabric for the Whitney Skirt pattern.  The width is 60 inches, so be forewarned you will not need as much as the pattern recommends.  A very lovely fabric to work with and to wear, Annie informs me!

Annie styled the Whitney skirt with another Violette Field Threads pattern the Josephine shirt we made her last year using Sew Classics Specialty Cotton Fabric Hibiscus White (affiliate link) fabric from JoAnns.  She also chose her shoes and head scarf, a winning combination, I think!  It’s so darling to see kids develop their own style and preferences.
