This week blog posts are going to be shorter because it’s Kids Clothes Week and that means sewing takes the stage, front and center!
Today’s Kids Clothes Week sew is an Oliver+S Field Trip raglan t-shirt for Thomas. Thomas requested a long sleeve shirt for fall, and I was more than happy to oblige. I picked up this airplane fabric from Mabel Madison during a crazy good sale. You can see the other Mabel Madison fabric we used for All The Skirts: Clever Charlotte & Mabel Madison here and here.
Since I’ve sewn Thomas this pattern before three times, it was quick and easy to cut out and sew up another one. Except this time I used the long sleeves instead of short sleeves. Actually, there is no short sleeve pattern piece, that was just my modification for summer! And this is not the first Field Trip Raglan T-shirt I’ve made for Thomas with an airplane theme during Kids Clothes Week.
This field trip raglan is color blocked with the back being solid navy. I did this because while the airplane fabric is fun, I thought too much wouldn’t look right on a 10 year old boy, and just used it for the front panel. The navy blue fabric is Art Gallery Fabrics knit from Imagine Gnats. The sleeves fabric is some “famous maker” fabric from JoAnns. It doesn’t have quite the stretch as the other two knits used on this shirt which makes the sleeves quite skinny. But they happen to fit Thomas’ arms perfectly, so it’s all good!
Alright, I told you it was going to be short and sweet! Now it’s back to sewing for me. But if you want some more sewing inspiration, pop over to Sewing Stadium where today’s sewing competition is OVER THE TOP! You will be awed…
