Slim Trouser Pattern Review

Before I tell you about the next piece in our Modern Chloris mini collection, I want to point you to a piece we did about bacon ice cream and how we’d interpret that food in our sewing.  Just saying.

Alright.  Let’s go back to the Flower Market look from our Modern Chloris mini wardrobe collection and zoom in on the Slim Trouser pattern this time.  We decided Annie needed a layer for fall that could go with about everything in the fall mini wardrobe we were making for her.  The Slim Trouser pattern from Lil Luxe Collection fit that need perfectly.  Annie always wears shorts under her skirts in spring and summer, but in the fall and winter her whole leg needs to be covered for warmth.

The Slim Trouser pattern comes in sized 18 months to size 8.  Whipping up this pair of leggings took a very short amount of time because we eliminated the pockets and leg zippers.  Remember, we were creating a foundation piece for our Modern Chloris collection.

The directions for the Slim Trouser pattern were easy to follow.  We did have to add length to the pattern, to accommodate Annie’s long skinny legs, but the pattern showed us right where to add the length.

The recommended fabrics are stretchy bottom weights or sturdy knits.  The solid knit fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics that we used worked perfectly.  This knit fabric has great recovery and doesn’t leave Annie with knee imprints sticking out after she stands up!

Allegra had the amazing idea of adding the lace appliqué to the bottoms of the Slim Trouser.  She found exactly the pattern she wanted in a lace curtain and hand stitched them to the legs of the Slim Trouser.  This is in keeping with our Modern Chloris theme for the mini collection.

All in all, we’re delighted to have a quick and easy leggings pattern to add to our sewing repertoire.  Annie will be getting several more pairs of the Slim Trouser pattern in her drawers soon.

As you can see, these leggings work with most of the other pieces of our Modern Chloris collection.  Do you have a go to leggings pattern?  Please share in the comments.

  1. […] This skirt is just about perfect for fall.  Though we didn’t add them to the collage, the leggings match this skirt and would transition it into fall and winter.  Especially with that […]
