All The Skirts: Oliver + S & Fat Quarter Shop

Oliver+S&Fat Quarter Shop

We’ve got some really BIG news!  It’s time to announce the next edition of All The Skirts with Oliver + S and Fat Quarter Shop.  We’re pretty sure everyone has heard of these two companies, but we’re going to tell you more about them anyway!

When we started this series, we looked forward to the day when we could sew up the Oliver + S skirts.  In fact, we were so anxious to make these skirts, we sort of jumped the gun and sewed the Music Class Blouse and Skirt!  If you missed it, we’ll give you a recap.

Bonnie Christine ribbon and fabricWe were a stop on the Bonnie Christine ribbon tour and used her Sweet As Honey fabric for the Music Class skirt.  You can read our complete review of the Music Class Blouse and Skirt Pattern, but let us tell you here we were super delighted with this skirt and blouse pattern.  The directions were super clear, it was a breeze to tile, and the end result…swoon!  I mean, just look at those side pleats!Music Class Blouse & Skirt from Oliver + S sewn by Skirt FixationWe made just a few changes to the Music Class Blouse and Skirt pattern, we lengthened the skirt in the manner suggested by Liesl on the Oliver + S forum.  We changed the tiny pleats on the blouse to gathers, and added the Bonnie Christine ribbon above them.  We also made an Aster Cardigan to complete the outfit!

Liesl Gibson started Oliver + S patterns about 7 years ago, and has become the leader in fashionable children’s patterns.  Here’s what Liesl says about sewing Oliver + S patterns, “At the end of the day, I want to be known for helping people realize their creative potential and build lasting memories, one sewing project at a time.  I believe that anyone can learn to sew and can make beautiful things, especially if I do my job well and give you great, easy-to-understand instructions. Our patterns are often described as a ‘sewing class in an envelope,’ and here at Liesl + Co. we take that reputation seriously.”

There are 8 Oliver + S skirts.  But instead of us introducing the Oliver + S skirt patterns, we’re going to let some experts who’ve sewn up many, many Oliver + S skirts show and tell you about the Oliver + S skirts, starting next week.  It’s a mini blog tour featuring Oliver + S skirts!  Next week this blog will be so beautiful!

And if that’s not awesome enough, Oliver + S is offering a 20% discount on Oliver + S patterns for Skirt Fixation readers using the promo code “SKIRT20”  This code is good for both paper and digital patterns!  But hurry, this sale only lasts a week!  It starts today and ends April 10th at midnight EST.  You’ll want to get some Oliver + S skirt patterns so you can join the link up.  Each item you’ve sewn in 2015, using an Oliver + S pattern will enter you in the giveaway.  Oliver + S is so generous, they’re offering 3 lucky winners their choice of 2 Oliver + S patterns that include a skirt!

We’re going to sew up the Oliver + S skirts using fabric from Fat Quarter Shop.  We’re sure you’ve heard of Fat Quarter Shop, but have you ordered from them?  If you have, you know about their super customer service, fast shipping, and great quality of fabrics.  You can always count on Fat Quarter Shop to send you accurate, straight cuts of fabric.  (Yes, this is one of our pet peeves, crooked cuts of fabric!!)  Be sure to check out their 24 hour flash sale section.  And keep your eye on their new fabric arrivals, too!  Beside fabric, Fat Quarter Shop sells quilt patterns, (we have the Birchen Quilt pattern and kit on our wish list!) books, notions and thread.

Fat Quarter Shop will also generously award those 3 lucky winners $40 gift certificate!

We knew that Fat Quarter Shop and Oliver + S would be a perfect pairing because both these companies are dedicated to educating sew-ers everywhere.  Fat Quarter Shop has a YouTube channel dedicated to teaching quilting techniques, sewing videos, interviews and more!

Are you ready to play along?  You can enter the giveaway where 3 lucky winners will win 2 Oliver + S skirt patterns and a $40 Fat Quarter Shop gift certificate!   Next week, we’ll open up the Link Up so you can link up the Oliver + S patterns you’ve been making and the projects where you’ve used Fat Quarter Shop fabric!
