There isn’t a more fun skirt to wear than a circle skirt!  Seriously.  This week we present you the Drop & Twirl Circle Skirt from Jocole Patterns.

If you search on the internet, you will find literally hundreds of free tutorials for circle skirts, so why should you buy this pattern?  Well, Jocole has taken the math out of making a circle skirt by having a pattern piece!  No math needed.  And also, this circle skirt has a drop waist, eliminating the sort of bulky waistline and hips many circle skirts end up with.  And it comes in all sized from Doll through size 14, which we made.

The only alteration we made to the pattern was changing the waist to an exposed elastic waistband.  This was because the only elastic we had on hand was 1.5 inch and we didn’t want to loose length on the drop waist by making a casing that wide.  When you have a growing child, every inch of length counts!  Next week we’ll have a short little tutorial on how to make a circle skirt with fabric narrower than 58-60 inches, which is what most circle skirts require.

Aria picked out this fabric from Urban Sew.  It’s called Oopsy Daisy, from Westminster fabrics, and is part of their La Dee Da line by Erin McMorris.  Right now, it’s only $6 per yard which is a screaming good deal!

Of course the best thing about a circle skirt is the twirl-ability.  They make you want to dance, and twirl, and take a ballet class.  When you wear a circle skirt, you feel like you could do anything!
